The SCCR team is made up of people from different industries and who come from all 6 boroughs. We bring our varied perspectives, experiences, and skills to help inform SCCR’s trajectory. Learn more about what we do professionally and in our free time below.

Zakaria Abdulle – Chair
Zakaria Abdulle is a community impact policy professional dedicated to finding collaborative solutions to complex policy problems.
Zak has provided impactful policy advice to senior decision-makers at the City of Toronto, the Ontario Government, and the Federal Government of Canada.
Zak holds a Master of Public Administration degree in Local Governance from the University of Western Ontario. Zak is a past World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Shaper, Action Canada Fellow, and attendee of the New Canada Conference recognizing the Top 100 Youth Leaders in Canada.

Hamdi Ali
Hamdi Ali is a professional in the food industry working with manufacturers and retailers in project management, program maintenance and implementation and operational support. Hamdi is passionate about community resourcing and enjoys collaborating with communities and service groups to ensure appropriate support is provided to priority groups.

Fuad Abdi
Fuad Abdi is a senior executive with experience working in the public sector and fortune 500 companies. Fuad has led major initiatives on corporate social responsibility and accountability, system policy transformation, capital development and investment strategies, and anti-racism capacity building for organizations. Fuad has an extensive community service record and volunteers for numerous community-based organizations, providing expertise in corporate governance and finance.

Halla Ahmed
Halla Ahmed is a litigation associate at a class actions and civil litigation boutique in Toronto. Halla is passionate about advocacy and community lawyering. In her spare time, Halla enjoys organizing and participating in community events that focus on youth civic engagement, inclusivity in the legal profession, and mentorship for Black and Muslim youth.

Sakariya Ahmed
Sakariya Ahmed is an innovative city builder who is passionate about democratizing opportunity for marginalized communities. He spends his time thinking about education and equity in public policy and helps ideate, create, and deliver products at Microsoft as a Product Manager.

Deqa Egal
Deqa Egal is a policy, compliance and regulatory professional in the utility industry where she provides advice on regulation and policy. Deqa has dedicated herself to working in resource based industries at the provincial, federal and international level.

Abdu Gassim
Abdurahman Gassim is a finance professional holding a CPA, CA designation with the Province of Ontario. Abdurahman graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in Accounting and majoring in Economics. He holds 8 years of professional work experience in Audit, Tax, Financial Reporting, and Budgeting with companies such as KPMG, Bell, and currently a Manager, Finance at Rogers. Born and raised in Toronto, Abdurahman enjoys serving the community. He has participated in several charitable events, including personally fundraising $2,500 to partake in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. In
his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and loved ones, play recreational basketball, and learn new things.

Abdifatah Hussein
Abdifatah Hussein is a community organizer, activist and spoken word artist with a deep passion for creating platforms and connections within his community. Empowerment drives Abdifatah’s efforts, and is the bedrock of Hidaayah House, a collaborative movement, where he acts as its Co-Founder. Having hosted 200+ events and workshops over the last 8 years, and collaborating with a number of communities and individuals across the GTA, Abdifatah hopes to give communities the resources needed to create their own solutions, and he sincerely believes in the power of love and positive reinforcement to create long-standing change.

Amina Mohamed
Amina Mohamed is a communications expert, researcher, and curator working at the intersection of culture, data, and the archive. She is interested in the ways digital heritage projects are democratizing access to cultural institutions and the continued role those institutions have in creating healthy communities. Amina has worked on a variety of social infrastructure projects in Canada, the US, Germany and the Netherlands. In her free time you will always find her at a museum.

Rihana Mohamed
Rihana Mohamed is a public relations specialist, focusing on lifestyle, beauty, and fashion. She loves to utilize social media platforms to tell interesting and compelling stories. She spends her downtime with her family and friends and catching up on Netflix shows.

Sagal Shuriye
Sagal Shuriye is a passionate community builder from Scarborough. She served as a stakeholder officer for RISE, a Scarborough arts organization, and collaborated with tenants through her work at Toronto Community Housing. Sagal currently works at Future Skills Centre, where she helps Canadians develop the skills they need to take full advantage of and succeed in the Canadian economy. Currently completing her MBA part-time at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Sagal’s goal is to use her degree to benefit the Somali community.
